My event at the Prague Conference Centre was scheduled for the 16/17/18 of June so we arrived on the evening of the 14th. I’d booked Vaea in with dog care and the idea was for her to spend a few hours with the carer on the 15th while I wasn’t busy to make sure everything went OK.
We caught the tram and I left Vaea with Zoe, a Kenyan student, for a couple of hours and they seemed to get on OK. The following three days went well and there were no problems and it seems they both had fun.
Vaea tends to invoke one of two reactions from most people. Either they adore her, want to ask about her, stroke her and tell me how lovely she is. Alternatively, they seem to be very wary of her, bordering on fear sometimes.
Vaea didn’t seem to bother the prostitute that knocked on the door at 02:30 one morning. Unfortunately, she didn’t accept contactless payment.

I didn’t get a photo of Zoe and Vaea together which was a shame.

Our base was a campsite on the island in the river. Each trip into town involved a ferry crossing and one or more trams. A couple of times we caught the underground and by the end of the week, Vaea was fully comfortable with the public transport.
There seems to be some sort of unwritten code or etiquette in these campsites. I think you’re supposed to sit on one side of your motorhome so you’re not sharing the outside space with the neighbour but, with my door at the back, I couldn’t comply. I suspect we did lots of other things wrong but never mind.
The conference was good with way too much free food and drink.

Here are an assortment of photos from around the town centre in case you’ve not been.
And…..a Czech cooked breakfast. Not bad at all!

- Scrambled egg
- Paté and chutney
- Sliced ham and sliced cheese
- Salad
- Roasted chrorizo and onion
- Buttered toast
