How did I get a cold?

I’ve not had a cold for probably two, maybe three, years. I’ve only had Covid once and I think that was my last infection.

So, after living “off grid” for a couple of months and not really interacting with anyone for some time I’m rather annoyed to be suffering from the common cold. I cycled to Almeria last weekend to collect some items from an Amazon locker and must have picked it up there. We were going into the village this evening to play cards with some peeps but that’s knocked on the head now!

The road ride on the bike was most enjoyable. After several weeks of off-road it was nice for some smooth tarmac, sunny weather and grand vistas.

The sunny weather is definitely less now. Still not much rain, usually in the middle of the night, but plenty of windy days and lots of cloud cover. My solar isn’t keeping up with consumption so yesterday the generator had to be fired up for a couple of hours. More solar panels have been ordered that I will hang on the side of Lorenzo to hopefully catch the low winter sun. These are foldable so can be unstrung and folded up for summer and travelling.

Adrian has cleared out some of the cave house and the front room is now habitable and clean. Of an evening we can cook a stew, curry or casserole on top of the fire and put our feet up to watch a film.

That’s a €250 projector from Amazon that plays off USB as well as Amazon, Netflix and other streaming. The sound isn’t bad either. It’s projecting onto a single white sheet hanging from the roof beams about 3 metres from the sofa. I’d guess that’s equivalent to a 100″ screen and with a cinema like vibe too!

I’m putting together a video of my morning ride which I’ll hopefully post soon.

Upcoming we have a trip to the vets again next weekend and then towards the end of the month I’ll be spending a few days with my brother in Almeria at an Airbnb. After that, we’ll be into December and our last month so plans will have to be drawn up for the movements for after Christmas. I was hoping to find a way to get to Paris to meet up with the kids but logistics are too difficult and/or expensive. Still, I’ll sort something soon.

As I have to spend 3 months out of Europe (or in France) next I might head to the UK with stops in Civray and Paris…..watch this space.
