Introduction
Vanlife is apparently a big thing now, or so I’m told.
I see a fair bit of it on YouTube which I use, more than I should. I try not to use other social media but gather vanlife is high profile on those too.
It seems it’s a lot about the youngsters of today not being able to afford a house and choosing the “no ties” option of a nomadic, low cost lifestyle on the road.
Let me tell you that some of us oldies are in a similar position. Don’t get your violin out just yet. I’m here due to life choices I’ve made over the last several decades. None of which I think I regret. Which means, I’m happy with where I am.
Story
I’ll be sixty years old next year.
I grew up in Nottingham in the UK, moved to France in 2005 with my partner at the time and two daughters. Had a son. Lived for a few years. Separated, met someone, separated again and that brings me to……..
Today
I’ve not owned a house for nearly 15 years. I’ve been living in OP’s houses since, and this August came the time to move on again. I’ve always loved an adventure. Being outside of the comfort zone and not being “normal”. So, rather than scrape together enough money for a small hovel I’ve scraped enough money together for a small lorry.
Why?
I’m not too bothered about getting likes, subs or comments. If you want a discussion, go somewhere else. This is more about two things…….
- A log of my travels.
- Letting those I love know what’s going on without using social media, rafts of emails or phone calls.
Three things. It’s more about three things…….
- A log of my travels.
- Letting those I love know what’s going on without using social media, rafts of emails or phone calls.
- A chance to rant….hee hee!
